| Hi!
welcome to my new drawing tutorial! I'll teach you my
technique.
Step
1:
First of all, grab
a piece of paper, a pencil and an eraser just in case
and make a little sketch like this one. The proportions
I use here are close to reality. The position of the skeleton
is all up to you. |
 |
| Step
2:
Now, 'dress' your
sketch and turn it into a character. For exemple I've
chosen Michelle. You can create its clothes, hair, eyes
and of course the expression. |
 |
| Step
3:
Now it's time to
ink the drawing. Be careful to ink it well, or you'll
have to make corrections later!
Erase the pencil
line, for a cleaner result! |
 |
| Step
4:
Scan it now in text
mode at a high resolution (250 dpi at least) to obtain
a 1 bit bw image, save it in a .bmp format - the real
size of the pic was like 728x1183 - If you haven't done
it yet, make a word bubble like this one (I usually handdraw
them, but this one looks prettier) and then, to be able
to colour do this:
you'll now have
a 24 bit RGB image. |
 |
Step
5:
Now colour it, of
course in Paint. I know, it sounds lame, but this so-called
program is great for such thing!
and ta-daaah!
Colours of my choice. |
 |
Step
6:
The Paint-stadium
is over, so we open the saved picture in Photoshop and
we begin to apply effects. For exemple let's make Michelle's
hair shiny. I go to Select > Colour Range > ...and
I pick the hair colour. So I can only work on that colour's
area.
If you have a tablet
this would be much easier and nicer.
so... |

| Step
7:
This is the way
your picture may look after applying the volume effects
in Step 6 using different type of brushes.. And for texture
go to Filter > ... and it's your choice. I used noise
for the background. |
